Its just 3 more days till the end of this month and also Halloween.

And hooray~ for my dreadful weekly comms blog is coming to an end. I don't have to blog anymore but I've gotta work on the number of comments I have. Great blog posts plus 15 comments per post to secure an A, as many seniors claimed. Thanks to great friends out there :) I dont mean that if you didn comment then you're not a great friend k, I know that it's boring to read an academic blog and to actually think of something constructive to write. Like how I am suffering now - to help each of my OG members who are in comm 101 to comment on each and every post in their blog D:

Good news aside, projects are coming to an end to. That IS bad, for my comm group hasn't done anything I consider as productive and progressive enough - more than half of them are the last minute type, so my power of being on task and on time is jus too weak :( sigh. I just hope to get it over and done with.

CSE mini project was just released like yesterday. I was stunned by the programming question. Seriously, why are we required to take CSE (though it's a free-A module).

For Psy, we did a reserach paper on Foster Children. It sounds good and I feel that it's all turn out to be an awesome 13% on in our hands :) Talked about their behavior, problems, consequences and soutions available.

For Soc, we're doing on Why are Singaporeans Marrying later. My soc group seems good. :) everyone's been really cooperative so far. and I'm the group leader, muhahah! Anyways, for this one, the deadline's last week of the semester so... I guess it's better to start early.

All these projects are making me miss my sec sch projects and my PW group. :) Saw siddiq :O with hair of decent length - didn seem like he's in army, Nizam too.

Anyways, NEXT NEXT MONDAY'S ANOTHER PUBLIC HOLIDAY!!! YIIPPPPPPPIIIIIEEEEEE!

Cant wait for CNY where we have Sat, Sun, Mon and Tue! woots.

Oh, and my parents went to Universal Studios yesterday. I was glad that my parents went because they sounded like they enjoyed themselves very much :) It's been a long time since I saw them having such fun. I look forward to the day when our whole family can go Taiwan or any other countries for a holiday. It's been years since I last went overseas with my Bro. He and his damn theory - I must earn loads of money, so I'm staying here. URGH. baka!

okay, I shall sign off for now... cya soon.

Another great song: Parachute's Forever Always

We all need grit, the ability to persist in the face of obstacles and even failure.

New York Sunday Times:
Paul Tough’s essay “What if the Secret to Success is Failure?” In it, he interviews teachers, principals and other educators who believe that “character” – variously defined – is a more important ingredient in long-term life success than academic smarts are.

Tough writes much of his article about the American KIPP schools, remarkably successful charter schools for students in difficulty. KIPP graduates an impressive number of its at-risk students, but followup studies have shown that these students don’t always thrive once they get to college, and a large number don’t complete their degrees. According to one of his subjects,

the students who persisted in college were not necessarily the ones who had excelled academically [at the KIPP schools]; they were the ones with exceptional character strengths, like optimism and persistence and social intelligence. They were the ones who were able to recover from a bad grade and resolve to do better next time; to bounce back from a fight with their parents; to resist the urge to go out to the movies and stay home and study instead…
Another researcher tells him,

…learning is hard. True, learning is fun, exhilarating and gratifying — but it is also often daunting, exhausting and sometimes discouraging. . . . To help chronically low-performing but intelligent students, educators and parents must first recognize that character is at least as important as intellect.
Tough, reflecting on these observations, comments that

the struggle to pull yourself through a crisis, to come to terms on a deep level with your own shortcomings and to labor to overcome them — is exactly what is missing for so many students…
